Türkçe'de karşıtı bulunmayan bu zamanın anlaşılması yeni başlayanlar için biraz güçtür. Önemli olan Türkçe karşılığından çok bu zamanın kullanıldığı yerleri iyi bilmektir. Bu zaman iki öğeden meydana gelir. Brincisi 'have' yardımcı fiilidir. İkincisi ise fiilin üçüncü şeklidir. Düzensiz Fiilleri görmek için tıklayın. Present Perfect Tense geçmiş ile şu an arasındaki bağlantıyı göstermek için kullanılır. Eylem daha önce başlamıştır ama belirsizdir ve eylemin kendisinden çok sonucu önemlidir. Bu tense şu hallerde kullanılır;

1. Geçmişte başlamış ve şu anda devam eden eylemler.
2. Bir süredir devam eden ve tamamlanmamış eylemler.
3. Geçmişte belirsiz bir zaman diliminde yapılan eylemler.
4. Yakın geçmişte tamamlanmış eylemler.
5. Zamanı belirsiz ya da önemsiz olan eylemler.

Bu zaman, geçmiş bir tarihte başlayıp, konuşulan ana kadar devam etmiş ve gelecekte de devam edecek gibi görülen olayları anlatmakta kullanılır. Present continuous tense ile Present perfect continuous tense arasındaki fark, present continuous un konuştuğumuz anda devam eden bir işi anlatmakta kullanılmasıdır. Oysa, Present Perfect Continuous tense kullandığımızda, şu anda süre gelen bir şeyin ne zaman başladığını yada ne kadardır devam ettiğini bildiririz.

"Adjective Clause" olarak da adlandırılan "Relative Clause" lar. Kendi başına bir cümle değildir ve cümle içerisinde sıfat görevi görür.Bir ismi tanımlarlar,niteler ve tasvir eder. Sıfatlar tanımladıkları isimden önce,"Relative Clause"lar ise açıkladığı isimden hemen sonra gelir.

The woman has given me a book.

Bu cümlede biz eğer kadını tanıtmak ve belirtmek istersek bir sıfat kullanmamız gerekmektedir.

The young woman has given me a book.

Kadını böyle tanıtacağımız gibi bazen de daha düzgün ifadelerden oluşmuş bir cümle kullanarak ta tanıtabiliriz.

The young woman bumped into me in the street. She gave me a book.

Bu iki cümle hangi genç kadından bahsedildiğini belirtmek için birleştirilebilir.

The young woman who bumped into me in the street gave me a book. "who bumped into me in the street" cümlesi esas cümlenin içinde yer alan küçük bir cümledir. Bu cümle “Relative Clause” diye adlandırılır çünkü büyük cümlenin içindeki ismi nitelemekte ve ona bağlıdır.

The doctor who operated on our teacher is the best in our city.

The train which crashed into a lorry is being repaired here.

The child who was playing in the playground lives next to us.

Ahmet is my best friend. He comes from İzmir.

Ahmet who comes from İzmir is my best friend.

Yukarıda örnekte görüldüğü gibi birinci cümle Ahmet’ten bahseder-

ken,ikinci cümlede Ahmet’in kim olduğunu anlatıp onu açıklamakta bundan dolayı iki cümleyi birleştirirken ikinci cümle Ahmet’i açıkla-

dığı için onun yanına "Who" (insanlar için kullanılır) ilave ediyoruz.

Yukarıdaki örnekte de görüldüğü gibi,sıfat cümleciği İngilizce’de nitelediği isimden hemen sonra yer almaktadır. Türkçe’de nitelediği isimden önce gelir. İngilizce sıfat cümlecikleri yapımında "Relative Pronouns" (İlgi zamirleri) kullanılır,bu nedenle "Adjective clause"’lar "Relative Clause" diye de adlandırılır. İlgi zamirleri olarak “who, which, whom, that, whose” kullanılırlar.”

Pervane motor tarafından çevrilen kayış tarafından çevrilmektedir.

Bu cümle sadece "Relative Clause" değil aynı zamanda "Passive" dir.

Eğer "Active" ve "Relative yapmak istersek o zaman, şöyle yazılır;

The engine turns the belt, which turns the fun.

Motor ,pervaneyi çeviren kayışı çevirir.

Passive Voice
The fun is turned by the belt,

Which is turned by the engine.

This means

The fan is turned by the belt.

The belt is turned by the engine.

Relative Clause

The engine turns the belt, which turns the fan.

This means

The engine turns the belt

The belt turns fan.

In both cases the engine makes the belt and fun turn.
